Resilience Across the Rainbow: Suicide Prevention in LGBTQ+ Communities
LOCATION:
201 South 40th Street
Philadelphia, PA 19104 United States
TIME: 11:30 AM

event details

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, and other sexual and gender minorities are at greater risk of attempting and dying by suicide than straight and/or cisgender persons. Interpersonal, community, and structural factors contribute to elevated risk. At the same time, some of these same factors can also promote resilience—the ability to bounce back after a setback.

LGBTQ+ communities have historically demonstrated great resilience in the face of adversity. This event is designed to support the resilience of LGBTQ+ community members and to help attendees help others feel less alone and more supported.

Please join the DBHIDS LGBTQ+ Task Force as they:

  • Discuss appropriate identity language and explore the unique needs within the LGBTQ+ community
  • Recognize warning signs of suicide risk and increase skills to offer support
  • Explore how being an ally can support prevention
