Prevent Suicide PA will be conducting a webinar on on June 30, 2020, 10:00-11:30 am. and the topic will be on how to run a Loss Survivor Support Group, led by Frank Campbell, Ph.D. Dr. Campbell is the Executive Director Emeritus of the Baton Rouge Crisis Intervention Center, where he has developed the first National Training Center for Suicidology (NSTC) in 2018. He is also Senior Consultant for Campbell and Associates Consulting where he consults with communities on Active Postvention efforts and Forensic Suicidology cases. During his more than thirty years of working with those bereaved by suicide he introduced his Active Postvention Model (APM) in 1997 it is most commonly known as the LOSS Team (Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors). His work with survivors and victims of trauma has been featured in three discovery channel documentaries professional journals and book chapters. He is a past-president of the American Association of Suicidology, a recipient of both national and international awards for his contributions. This will be Session 1, with Session 2 coming in September. Session 1 is a 90 minute virtual presentation with up to 45 minutes for Q and A. This presentation will serve as a primer for the in-person one-day training to follow for Part 2. It will provide an overview of support group work with examples of different ways Suicide Loss Survivor groups are created, maintained, and sustained. Descriptions of peer lead and peer professional models will be described as well as frequencies of meetings and clinical support. Those participating will be able to send in questions and participate in discussions around the facilitation of support groups.
