NOTES TO KNOW
Critical aspects of work include receiving calls from the public and partner agencies regarding behavioral health crisis; collaboratively exploring the caller’s presenting problem and employing evidence-informed tools such as suicide-risk screening, assessment, intervention, referral, and follow-up; facilitating recommended referrals and communications with relevant behavioral health systems; dispatching mobile emergency teams, or other crisis resource service if it is determined that immediate care is needed or further assessment is necessary.
Philadelphia Crisis Line is a crisis call center in the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Network and adheres to its practice guidelines. Additionally, work may include authorizing legal warrants for involuntary psychiatric evaluation requests. Philadelphia Crisis Line serves as a central hub for crisis care that works with a wide range of internal and external partners. This includes growing opportunities in interfacing with the 911 call center, such as offering telephonic intervention to mental health crisis related 911 calls.
